First ever mega job fair for the people with disability in Karnataka State
The “Skill and Job fair” for people with Disability was held on 17th and 18th of July 2010, at Christ primary School Campus,
The job fair is the first ever job fair done in Karnataka for the people with disabilities, all pwd from different parts of Karnataka took part in the fair, they went through a clean systematic process of registration, counseling, assessment and further referred to interviews with employers and a few who were lacking required skills were referred to training institutes. A total of 52 employers, 8 training institutes took part
3,300 pwd candidates had participated in the job fair, of which 171 received the offer letters, a total of 434 plus pwd candidates were short listed by the employers and 536 were short listed for the trainings.
The fair was a mega event with the closing ceremony done by the labour minister
Ms Anuradha Patil, from Cheshire Livelihood Resource Centre addressed the gathering and informed the minister that the need was more for providing hearing impaired interpreters at school and college level as the most important accessibility for the hearing impaired, hence wanted the government to take up the issue to provide a supporting system to the hearing impaired candidates. The Minister acknowledged the idea and informed that the Cheshire Livelihood Resource Centre could progress on the issue by suggesting the necessary steps to be taken for the support system in discussion with the Commissioner for the disabled.

Job fair for persons with disability conducted on 10th of October 2009:
The Cheshire Livelihood Resource Centre in collaboration with the Enable India and APD organised a job Fair on 10th October 2009. Details of the job fair are as below:
Numbers at glance:
- 160 candidates registered
- 95 candidates trained
- 120 candidates took part in the event.
- 34 placed
- 60 short listed
- 17 Companies took part
Many of the short listed candidates were placed with the participating companies or other employers followed to the job fair day.
Process followed prior to the job fair:
Preparations done with the candidates:
- Registration and evaluation was done in six different locations reduce the mobility and registered candidates were put in to full-fledged four days manual training.
- After the completion of training individual candidates were counseled and looking at their skills realistic job profiling was done.
- Parents /Guardian meeting along with candidates was conducted to support them to make collective decision of candidate and their parents /Guardian.
- Final job profiling of Individual candidates was done along with the consultation of parents.
- Candidates were sent for work shadowing to companies to get practical orientation on work place.
- Matching of the candidates according to the requirement of companies was done
- Each candidate was given opportunity to attend interview with at least three different companies.
